An unusually atmospheric, ethereal documentary that narrates a lot through quiet moments and small observations.Filmdienst
SYNOPSIS
Filmmaker Xenia Sigalova returns to her homeland, Russia, after 20 years to find out what has become of her childhood friends Roman, Vladimir and Alexander. Born in the Soviet Union and raised during a time of change, her friends must find their way in “Putin’s” new Russia.
What has become of her friends, and how has the country developed? What would have happened if she hadn’t gone with her parents?
On her journey, Xenia gains a personal insight into the lives of the “Perestroika generation”. The result is a portrait of contemporary Russia beyond the familiar clichés.
